It’s official! Portugal is also confirmed in the competition!
Nicolas Alves will be the Portuguese representative in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022, which will take place in Yerevan, Armenia, next December.

The winner of The Vice Kids 2022, Maria Gil, will be 15 years old before December and according to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest rules she cannot participate in the international contest, since the rules dictate that the participants must have, on the date of the event, a maximum age of 14.

Thus, RTP decided to invite the runner-up to represent Portugal in the next Junior Eurovision Song Contest.

Nicolas Alves is 13 years old and comes from Torres Vedras. His parents’ family is Brazilian, but Nicolas was born in England, where he lived until he was 10. He started singing at age 4, but it was at age 8 that he entered a music school in England. He was inspired by Michael Jackson and Freddie Mercury and always thought of becoming a singer like them.

Have any of you seen any of Nicolas’ performances? What do you think about the Portuguese representative? Will Portugal take home the “junior victory” this time? Share your thoughts with us!
