This afternoon, RTP have just revealed the official music video for the Portuguese entry for the Junior eurovision song contest 2021. The music tittle is “O Rapaz” (The Boy) and is sung by Simão Oliveira.

“O Rapaz” it’s written and composed by Fernando Daniel, former contestant of festival da Canção and the winner of The voice Portugal a few years ago, and by Diogo Clemente.

Simão Oliveira was the first participant to be revealed for this year Junior Eurovision edition, after winning The Voice Kids Portugal in the 2021 edition.

Portugal has five participations in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in the periods of 2006-2007 and 2017-2019, with the best result being the 14th place of Pedro Madeira and Mariana Venâncio in 2006 and 2017, respectively. The last participation was in 2019 and Portugal was represented by Joana Almeida and “Ven Conmigo” (Come with Me), finishing in 16th place with 43 points, all from online voting.

Last year, RTP decided not to participate due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. This year the Junior Eurovision Song contest will take place on December 19, 2021 in Paris at the The Seine Musicale.
