Could be televoting be making a return to Festivali i Këngës this year?
OGAE Albania have reported that this years edition of Festivali i Këngës will feature televoting, which, if true, would be the first time since 2016, and only the second time ever in the history of the contest.
However, it has not been mentioned what percentage of the overall score the televoting will account for. It is also not known if the televote will be in addition to jury voting, or if it will replace it entirely.
“This year, the song festival comes with the innovation so much requested by you; televoting. In this edition, the public will have its voice. FiK is currently in the phase of accepting competitive songs until September 30.”
Typically, the results of Festivali i Këngës have always been decided by a jury panel. However, in 2016, RTSH decided to add televoting into the mix for the first time, but it wasn’t an even split by any means. The televotes only accounted for 7.7% of the overall results. Every edition since then has used 100% jury voting.
What are your thoughts on televoting potentially coming back to Festivali i Këngës this year? Would you like to see 100% televoting? Or do you think there should still be a jury vote too? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
