The Norwegian broadcaster NRK have announced that they have opened submissions for Melodi Grand Prix 2022. Composers, music producers and songwriters are all invited to submit their songs to the broadcaster, and they have until August 15th, 2021.
There are rules and regulations that all submissions must adhere to:
- All submitted songs must have at least one Norwegian songwriter. The reason for this is that Melodi Grand Prix wants to prioritise and promote Norwegian music.
- Each songwriter / composer can submit a maximum of three songs.
- All singers must be at least 16 years old.
- Songs must be no longer than 3 minutes, and cannot have been released or performed before September 1st, 2021.
Commenting on NRK’s opening of submissions for Melodi Grand Prix 2022, Norway’s Head of Delegation, Stig Karlsen, has said: “The invitation is open to anyone who writes songs. This is a unique chance to try and grab a place in the world’s biggest music competition. We are open to all kinds of music within a broad understanding of the pop genre. It can be anything from sophisticated beautiful pop songs, to bone hard rock, bubblegum pop, and everything in between.”
Melodi Grand Prix 2022 will take place in January and February, and will be comprised of semi-finals and a grand final. Are you excited for the show? Which Norwegian acts would you like to see participating? Let us know in the comments below!
