Norway: Frode has won the first semi final of Melodi Grand Prix 2022

Tonight, Norway kicked of the search for their Eurovision 2022 representative with the first semi final of Melodi Grand Prix. Frode was crowned the winner with their song “Black Flowers”.

The show was broadcast live from H3 Arena in Fornebu, without an audience. Annika Momrak, Kåre Magnus Bergh and Mikkel Niva all served as hosts for tonights show.

Four acts participated in tonight’s show, with each act singing in one of two duels. The winner of each duel advanced to the Golden Duel, with the winner of that duel earning a place in the Melodi Grand Prix grand final.

  • Mira Craig – “We Still Here”

 

  • TrollfesT – “Dance Like a Pink Flamingo”
  • Frode – “Black Flowers” – WINNER

Elina Noelia and Frode were the winners of their respective duels and went head to head in the Golden Duel. The results of the semi final were decided entirely by online voting on the official NKR/MGP app.

Alongside the four semi finalists, we also saw the first of the pre-qualified finalists performing on stage. Up first was Elsie Bay and her song “Death of Us“.

The second semi final of Melodi Grand Prix 2022 will be taking place on 22nd January where a further four acts will battle it out for a place in the final. There will be a total of four semi finals, and one second chance round (split in to two parts) before the grand final on February 19th.
