North Macedonia’s broadcaster MRT have announced that they will be returning to The Junior Eurovision Song Contest this year in Paris, France. The country previously took a break in 2020 due the COVID-19 pandemic, and their return to the contest makes them the 11th country to confirm participation.
Details of how North Macedonia will chose their act for Junior Eurovision have not yet been revealed; however, it is likely that they will opt for an internal selection, as they have been doing since 2015.
Junior Eurovision 2021: what we know so far
The 19th edition of Junior Eurovision will be taking place at La Seine Musicale in Paris, France on December 19th, 2021. So far, 11 countries have confrmed their participation:
- France
- Georgia
- Germany
- Ireland
- North Macedonia
- Poland
- Portugal
- Russia
- The Netherlands
- Spain
- Ukraine
Ireland, North Macedonia and Portugal are all returning to the contest after taking a break in 2020. Italy are sitting out a second contest in a row, as they are focusing on hosting Eurovision next year. Belarus will most likely withdraw from the contest due to the broadcaster no longer being a member of the European Broadacasting Union.
Kazakhstan, Serbia and Malta, who all took part in the 2020 contest, have yet to confirm their participation. Albania are yet to confirm if they will be returning to the contest after taking a break in 2020 due to the pandemic.
