Moldova will participate in Eurovision 2026!

The EBU and TRM have confirmed that Moldova will be returning to Eurovision next year in Vienna. This return comes after the country took a one year break in 2025 due to financial reasons and lackof a suitable artist and song.

The announcement of Moldova’s Eurovision return came ahead of a press conference at Chișinău Arena this morning by broadcaster TRM. At this conference, thw broadcaster spoke about their plans for Vienna next year, and how they will find their representative.

Selecția Națională goes big!

The broadcaster confirmed a new and bigger selection process, that will be overseen and co-ordinated by producer Serghei Orlov,and producer and director Roman Burlaca. Their role will be to “ensure a professional, transparent and credible selection, which emphasizes the artistic value and international competitiveness of the songs.”

The songs submissions window is open now and will close on Sunday 7th December 2025. After this, the broadcaster and the producers of the national final will review all of the submissions, and select the artists that will advance to the live auditions stage. Unlike in previous years, the live auditions will not be broadcast.

From the live auditions, between 5 and 10 artists will be selected to compete in the live national final, that will take place on January 17th at Chișinău Arena. The voting in the final will be comprised of 33% international jury, 33% Moldovan jury and 33% televote. There will be 5 international jury members and 15 Moldovan jury members.

The broadcaster has also confirmed that they will offer the winner, and the producers, a prize to help support their preparations for Eurovision 2026, 

Moldova made their Eurovision debut in 2005, and participated every year up until 2024. Their best result came in 2017, when Sunstroke Project finished in third place. Moldova withdrew from Eurovision in 2025 due to economic reasons, the broadcasters perceived quality of the songs in the national final, and financial reasons. They become one of three returnees for the 2026 contest, with Romania and Bulgaria having both confirmed their return in the last few days.
