Eurovision.tv have reported that one member of the Polish delegation for Eurovision 2021 has tested positive for COVID-19. “During a routine test upon arrival at the Eurovision Song Contest venue on Saturday 15 May, a member of the Polish delegation tested positive for COVID 19.” Before today, the last time the Polish delegation was at the Ahoy Arena was on Thursday, when all members had a negative test result.
As a result of this positive test result, this delegation member has now gone into self isolation, in accordance with health and safety regulations. As a precaution, all other members of the Polish delegation will also go into self isolation and will be given a PCR test.
This news means that the Polish delegation will miss the Turquoise carpet and Opening Ceremony, due to be held on Sunday 16th May at 17:00 CET. At the moment, it is not know what will happen with regards to their performance in the second semi final on Thursday 20th May, but we will be sure to keep you updated when we know any more information.
We wish the Polish delegation member a speedy recovery, and we hope that no-one else has been affected by this positive test result.
