Malta has selected their Junior Eurovision Song Contest hopeful - Yulan Law, But what song will she sing?
Less than one week has passed since it was announced that Yulan Law will represent Malta at this year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest taking place in Nice, France on 26 November 2023, and Maltese broadcaster Public Broadcasting Services (PBS) is wasting no time at all calling for song submissions from song writers & composers.
Yulan Law previously attempted to represent Malta at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest three times (2019, 2020, and 2021). After an astonishing break through in 2020 when she made it to the Malta’s Got Talent Final, she has made it to the top this time around by winning this year’s JESC National Selection. Yulan won 80% of the jury vote and 20% of the public SMS Vote.
Composers and songwriters who wish to submit songs for this year’s Maltese entry have been assured that songs can be in either English or Maltese. Those interested however will only have until the 31 August to submit their entries by email to mesc@pbs.com.mt
At last year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Yerevan, Armenia; Malta was represented by Gaia Gambuzza who sang the song “Diamonds in the Skies”. Gaia received 43 points, and came 16th place in the final results. This year, Yulan will be looking to build on this result and take Malta back to the top of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest scoreboard.
