The American Song Contest has its hosts! Singers Kelly Clarkson and Snoop Dogg have been announced to host the American counterpart to the Eurovision Song Contest.

Snoop Dogg has said: ‘I am honored to host American Song Contest alongside my lil sis Kelly Clarkson, aka Miss Texas. 🎤🎬👊🏾👊🏾’

Clarkson added: ‘I have been a fan and love the concept of Eurovision and am thrilled to bring the musical phenomenon to America. I’m so excited to work with Snoop and can’t wait to see every state and territory represented by artists singing their own songs.’

Clarkson is no stranger to music competitions as she won the first edition of American Idol in 2002. She is now a coach on the US edition of The Voice where she has collaborated with Snoop Dogg, who is a “mega-mentor”. The Voice (US) is currently on its 20th season and runs on NBC, the same network that will host the American Song Contest.

The American Song Contest is set to premiere on Monday, March 21 at 8:00 PM Eastern Time and commence each Monday until the grand final on May 9. The contest will conclude the same week as the Eurovision semi-finals and grand final which will be held in Turin, Italy.
