Montenegro set to return to Junior Eurovision after ten year absence!

In news that has come as a surprise to many, Montenegrin broadcaster RTCG has confirmed that Montenegro will be returning to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest this year. This will mark the first time since 2015 that Montenegro will be participating in the contest.

The Montenegrin broadcaster has yet to announce how they will select their artist and song for Junior Eurovision 2025. In their previous participations, the country selected their artist and song internally.

Montenegro has participated in Junior Eurovision on two occassions – 2014 and 2015. In 2014, they were represented by Maša Vujadinović and Lejla Vulić. They sang “Budi dijete ne jedan dan” and finished in 14th place with 24 points. In 2015, Jana Mirković represented Montenegro with the song “Oluja”, finishing in 15th place with 36 points.

Junior Eurovision 2025 will be returning to Georgia and Tbilisi for a second time following on from Andria Putkaradze‘s Junior Eurovision 2024 win with the song “To My Mom”. This was Georgia’s fourth Junior Eurovision win, their first three wins coming from Bzikebi in 2008, Candy in 2011 and Mariam Mamadashvili in 2016.

The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2025 is expected to take place in the same venue that hosted the 2017 contest – The Olympic Palace in the country’s capital city, Tbilisi. Further details about the hosts, and the confirmed list of participating countries is expected to be revealed in the coming months.

To date, 14 countries have confirmed their participation for Junior Eurovision 2025, which includes another returning country, Croatia, who last participated in 2014. Junior Eurovision 2024 participating countries Estonia and Germany have already confirmed their withdrawal from the contest, whilst Armenia and Cyprus have not confirmed participation or withdrawal.
