Nicolas Alves has the honour of representing Portugal in Yerevan with his rock song "Anos 70". Here is all the information you need on Nicolas and his song!
Who is Nicolas Alves?
Nicolas Alves is 12 years old and comes from Torres Vedras.
He lives with his parents and siblings.
He has a cat, Ben, and a dog, Rocky.
His parents’ family is Brazilian, but he was born in England. That’s where he lived until he was 10 years old.
He has been in Portugal since August 2019 and loves our country very much.
He hasn’t been with his grandmother, Ivonete, since the summer. He has been to Brazil a few times, has his godfather and cousins there, and feels at home in the country.
She started singing at the age of 4. At 8, she started singing at the music school in England.
His sister sings well too, but he is the only one who is not ashamed to do it in front of people.
As a child he watched videos of Michael Jackson and Fred Mercury and always thought he wanted to be a singer like them.
He is in the 8th grade and has had some problems because some people he has come across here in Portugal didn’t like his long hair.
In his spare time he likes to play guitar and play with his brothers.
How did he get selected?
After winning this year’s edition of “The Voice Kids”, Maria Gil was expected to represent Portugal at Eurovision Junior. However, the young Portuguese singer celebrates 15 years before the month of December, which invalidates her, according to the regulations of the international organization, that participate in the contest.
The rules dictate that, at most, the contestant must be 14 years old. Thus, RTP has invited the runner-up of “The Voice Kids”, Nicolas Alves, to represent Portugal in the event.
Tell us about the song!
RTP invited Carolina Deslandes to write the song and Carolina invited AGIR to compose with her.

Sing along to "Anos 70": Lyrics
Mas me deixa só sеr eu
Que eu não sеi ser mais nada
English translation
Send a message that today I’m not for anyone
I’m gonna dance today, I’m talking
Tell them I’m not doing well
I’m not out of place and if I’m out of place I’m making mistakes, and I’m making mistakes
I play an old song that even my father doesn’t play
And if you’re with me I’m at peace
I try to explain but there’s no one to understand
I should have been born in the 70’s
I should have been born in the 70’s
Let me be crazy just a little bit
To have a little bit of this sky
Let me be crazy, sing myself hoarse
But let me just be me
That I’m not gonna be anything else
And I don’t want anything else
And I don’t know how to be anything else
And I don’t want anything else
I play an old song that even my father doesn’t play
And if you’re with me I’m in the greatest peace
I try to explain but there’s no one to understand
I should have been born in the 70’s
I should have been born in the 70’s
Let me be crazy, just a little bit
To have a little bit of this sky
Let me be crazy, sing myself hoarse
But let me just be me
