Who is Tatyana Mezhentseva?
Tatyana “Tanya” Mezhentseva was born on in Moscow on December 9th, 2009. She has been singing since the age of 4, and has studied at the Pop Art Workshop under the guidance of Russia’s Eurovision 1997 participant, Alla Pugacheva. Aside from singing, Tatyana is also a keen dancer.
Tatyana is no stranger to Junior Eurovision. In 2019, she teamed up with Denberel Oorzhak to represent Russia in Poland with the song “A Time For Us”. They finished in 13th place with 73 points.
How did she get selected?
Russia once again opted for a national final to chose their Junior Eurovision representative. At the end of September, Tatyana participated in the mammoth 65-act semi final, and was one of 12 acts to advance to the final.
Tatyana was declared as Russia’s Junior Eurovision 2021 representative on October 26th. She achieved 3rd place with 36 points from the professional jury but topped the online vote, receiving almost 20% of all the votes, and was the runaway winner of the public vote, receving 54 points.

Mon Ami is a very positive upbeat pop-dance track, with some traditional elements in the instrumentation of the song. Essentially, Tatyana is singing about her “Ami”, her friend. She explains that we should try to live with an open heart, full of love instead of hatred and anger. The song has a very positive message behind it, one of happiness and love.

Russia at Junior Eurovision
Russia debuted in Junior Eurovision in 2005 with Vladislav Krutskikh and Street Magic as their entry. They achieved the first of fourteen top ten finishes for the nation. Just one year later, Russia achieved their first Junior Eurovision win with The Tolmachevy Twins, who would later go on to Eurovision in 2014.
Russia is one of the most successful countries in Junior Eurovision. In all of their 17 participations, they have achieved 14 top 10 finishes, with 9 of these making the top 5. Polina Bogusevich brought Russia a second victory in 2017 when she won the contest with her song “Wings”.
