Junior Eurovision 2021: It’s Olena Usenko for Ukraine

Olena Usenko has been crowned the winner of Ukraine’s national final for Junior Eurovision  2021, and will represent her country in Paris with the song “Vazhil” (Leverage).

Olena topped the jury vote and televote, beating ten other contestants to become Ukraine’s Junior Eurovision 2021 representative. The results were decided by 20% televote and 80% jury vote. 

Each of the five jury members gave each song between 1 and 11 points; 1 point to their last place and 11 points to their first place. On the jury panel was Alyosha (Ukraine Eurovision 2010); Igor Kondratyuk, television presenter; Igor Panasov, music journalist; Lyuba Morozova, musicologist and Oleksandr Balabanov (Ukraine Junior Eurovision 2020).

  • Sofia Skvaruk – ‘Golden Time’ – 32 points
  • Arseniy Grischenko – ‘Redemption’ – 30 points
  • Daryna Zinchenko – ‘Save this world’ – 29 points
  • Darya Rebrova – ‘Make Me Happy’ – 27 points
  • Yelizabeta Petryk – ‘Save this world’ – 23 points
  • Karina Kornuta – ‘Save this world’ – 19 points

Ukraine have participated in every Junior Eurovision Song Contest since 2006, and have played host twice; in 2009 and 2013, the contests were held in Kiev. They have won once in 2012 with Anastasiya Petryk and her song “Nebo”. In 2020, Oleksandr Balabanov finished in 7th place with “Vidkryvai”.
