Ireland: Junior Eurovision 2021 selection gets underway as filming begins in Dublin

Filming has begun at the RTE studios in Dublin, Ireland, for the nations selection show for Junior Eurovision 2021. The news has been confirmed by Ireland’s Eurovision 2003 representative, Mickey Joe Harte, who will be a guest judge.

In his Instagram post, Mickey is joined by Niamh Ní Chróinín and Fiachna Ó Braonáin, who will also be jury members. Mickey is just one of many guest judges in this years Junior Eurovision selection for Ireland.

The submissions for Ireland’s selection process will be open until March 19th, and is open to all singers aged between 9 and 14 years old.

Junior Eurovision 2021 will mark Ireland’s 6th participation in the contest, and their return after taking a year out in 2020 due to the COVID pandemic. Ireland saw their best result in 2016, when Zena Donnelly achieved a 10th place finish and 122 points with her song “Brice ar Bhrice”. Their most recent participation in 2019 saw Anna Kearny finish in 12th place with “Banshee”.
