Ireland are headed to Basel for Eurovision 2025!
Ireland have confirmed their participation in Eurovision 2025, as well as announcing that song submissions have opened for their 2025 selection process. Irish broadcaster RTÉ is ready to hear from artists, performers and songwriters who have the talent and the ambition to not only compete, but also succeed, in this highly competitive environment that is Eurovision, a sentiment that Head of Delegation Michael Kealy has echoed:
“Our 2024 entry Bambi Thug bewitched audiences and came sixth at the Eurovision in May in Malmö – it was Ireland’s best result since 2000. Bambi’s song Doomsday Blue has had over 24 million streams to date on Spotify. Their performance at the grand final has had 9.4 million views on Eurovision’s official YouTube channel.
Eurovision is an amazing opportunity for any Irish act to catapult themselves onto the world stage. Bambi Thug has performed at Electric Picnic in August and is currently on a 30-date tour across Europe with sold out shows in Manchester, Glasgow, Amsterdam, Cologne, Helsinki, Dublin and Galway.
Representing your country and performing at Eurovision is an experience unlike any other and can open doors beyond your imagination. If you think you have what it takes to be our Irish representative in Basel next year, we would love to hear from you!”
The submissions window is open now, and will close on 18th November 2024. All accomplished singers and songwriters, with a proven track record of success in the music industry are encouraged to submit an original song with a suitable singer/s attached. Each singer / songwriter can submit one entry only. You can submit your entry here.
All songs must be submitted in MP3 192kbps format, and must be complete, professionally recorded, and in their final form. Demo’s, unfinished or substandard songs will not be accepted. Songs must also be submitted with a photograph of the singer/s and a short biography.
Once the submissions window has closed, a panel of music and entertainment industry professionals and/or Eurovision fans selected by RTÉ will review each submission, and may invite performers to audition at the RTÉ studios in Dublin. Shortlisted songs will be invited to compete in a televised national final in early 2025.
RTÉ reserves the right to replace any performer with a performer nominated by RTÉ and match them with a suitable song. They may also directly invite singers and/or songwriters to submit an entry and send them directly to the televised national final.
Ireland had a very successful Eurovision outing in 2024 when Bambi Thug brought Ireland their best result in the contest since 2000. Getting Ireland into the final for the first time since 2018, Bambi Thug went on to finish in 6th place with 278 points with their song “Doomsday Blue”, achieving Ireland’s highest score ever in Eurovision in the process.
Will Ireland be able to build upon Bambi Thug’s success next year in Switzerland? Which Irish acts do you think could achieve another top ten result for Ireland? Let us know your thoughts and opinions on this in the comments below!
