The city council of Innsbruck has approved the bid for Eurovision 2026 host city.
Earlier this week, the Innsbruck city council approved the bid to potentially host the Eurovision Song Contest 2026. The Olympia Sport- und Veranstaltungszentrum Innsbruck GmbH (OSVI) has been commissioned to prepare the official application documents to submit to the Austrian broadcaster ORF.
Innsbruck’s proposed venue for Eurovision 2026 is the Olympiahalle, that is part of OlympiaWorld, a multi-purpose sports facility complex in Innsbruck. The Olympiahalle is a venue that Innsbruck Mayor Johannes Anzengruber believes to be perfect for the contest: “The Olympiahalle offers perfect conditions – and we as a city and region can implement an ESC with passion and competence.”
The Olympiahalle in Innsbruck was previously in contention to host Eurovision 2015, before ultimately losing out to the Weiner Stadhalle in Vienna.
To date, a total of seven cities across Austria have expressed their interest in bidding to become Eurovision 2026’s host city – Ebreichsdorf, Graz, Innsbruck, Linz & Wels, Oberwart, Sankt Pölten and Vienna.
Eurovision will return to Austria next year for a third time overall, with the country having previously hosted the contest in 1967 and 2015. The country’s hosting of the 70th Eurovision Song Contest in 2026 comes after JJ’s win in Basel this year with “Wasted Love”.
