Time flies when you are a Eurovision fan… Which means Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022 will be here before you know it! This year Serbia will be returning to shoot their shot at the Junior Eurovision win.
RTS confirms Serbian participation
The Serbian broadcaster RTS has revealed the news that Serbia will be back at the Junior Eurovision stage in Yerevan this December. This year will mark the 14th participation for Serbia in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest and the 9th year in a row for Serbia’s participation.
Besides the confirmation of participation, RTS has revealed some more details on the process of selecting their 2022 representative.
Submissions are open now!
Do you dream about representing Serbia in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest of 2022? This is your chance! The submissions for the selection process are open now until September 15th.
Here are the criteria:
- Songs can be submitted by post, in the form of a song on a USB or on a CD
- Junior Eurovision ruling states that at least 60% of the song needs to be in the Serbian national language
- The song can not be longer than 3 minutes
- The artist must be in the age range of 9 – 14
This is how the selection process works
All of the submitted songs will be reviewed by a professional jury consisting of music editors from RTS. If the jury finds a significant number of songs of a high quality, Serbia will host a national final to decide who will be the Serbian representative for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2022.
This will be the first Serbian national final since 2017!
However, if the jury does not find a significant number of submitted songs of a high quality, the Serbian representative will be chosen internally.
RTS also states that there will be the possibility that a non submitted song will be chosen for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. This will happen when none of the submitted songs appeal to the jury.
