How was 'Шум' selected?
Шум was internally selected by a Ukranian jury. Three songs were initially in the running for Ukraine’s Eurovision 2021 entry, and the juries selected Шум.
The original cut of Шум is 4 minutes and 20 seconds long and the rule for song durations at the Eurovision Song Contest is that they cannot be more than three minutes long, hence the need for a revamp to shorten it.
Who are Go_A?
Go_A are a Ukrainian electro-folk band formed in Kyiv. Current members of Go_A are vocalist Kateryna Pavlenko, Taras Shevchenko, Ihor Didenchuk and Ivan Hryhoriak. The band gained prominence in Ukraine by combining traditional folk sounds with electronic music and have had many successful singles and their debut album Idy na zvuk.
In 2020, Go_A won the Ukrainian Eurovision selection Vidbir with Solovey.
They were due to represent Ukraine at the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest, however due to the contests cancellation this was not possible. On the same day of the cancellation, Ukranian broadcaster UA:PBC announced that Go_A will still represent them at the 2021 contest.
