Germany will select their Junior Eurovision 2023 representative internally.

German broadcaster KiKA, who are responsible for Germany’s participation in Junior Eurovision, have confirmed that they will have an internal selection to find their song and singer for the upcoming Junior Eurovision this November.

In the two years that Germany has previously participated in Junior Eurovision, they have had some kind of national final / selection type process to find their representative and their song.

In 2020, auditions took place behind closed doors, and the final few acts sang two potential Junior Eurovision songs in front of a four-panel jury. Susan was declared the winner with her rendition of “Stronger With You”.

In 2021, the broadcaster decided to have a live televised show to chose their act for Junior Eurovision, “Junior ESC – Wer fährt nach Paris?”. A total of three finalists performed two out of three already produced songs specifically for this national final, which saw Pauline winning with “Imagine Us”.

Germany are one of the newest countries that has joined the Junior Eurovision family, having only made their debut in 2020, when Susan finished in 12th place with 66 points. They returned a year later with Pauline, who finished in 17th place with 61 points. They withdrew from the 2022 contest for a creative break.
