Frans presents us a new album to party to this summer!

| August 10, 2020

Last month, Sweden’s 2016 representative, Frans, released his first studio album entitled Present. The album combines some signles released in the last year with anarray of new, feel-good material that we can all enjoy this summer. His indie-like vocals combined with his swing and pop influenced new style certainly makes the album entertaining and pleasant to listen to.

More significantly, the album features his popular 2019 single Amsterdam that combines Frans’ familiar sweet demeanour with cheeky rhythms and trendy instrumentals, accompanied with catchy whistling. Furthermore, perhaps the most appealing new song however is On A Wave that was also released as a single shortly before the album in order to gain intrigue before the major release. With its insatiable guitar riffs, Frans presents an up-beat and memorable love story, fitting perfectly with the suitably feel-good album.

On a Wave is reportedly about trying to keep in a long-term relationship and despite hard times, showing that in the end, love is more powerful than anything.

In a press release from Sony Music before the album became public, Frans stated:

“Being a 16-year-old and a part of the incredible success, which my song If I Were Sorry had, was fantastic. Today I am 21-years-old and have explored a larger spectrum of sounds and forms of expression that I feel comfortable with. I constantly strive to be better at what I do and it has taken time. I want to give a bigger picture of myself as an artist and songwriter. I am very happy and grateful to release this album. Present is a gift to myself, but also to anyone who wants to listen to my new music.”

Who is Frans?

Frans is a 21-year old singer/songwriter from the town of Ystad in the Southern Swedish province of Skåne. He has Swedish, Nigerian and British roots and won Melodifestivalen 2016 with the song he brought to Eurovision, If I Were Sorry. He proceeded to finish in 5th place, becoming the second most successful host entry in the last 15 years. After achieving a somewhat unexpected but incredibly respectable high score in 2016, the future looks bright for the young and ambitious artist who continues to experiment with new music.
