Eurovision 2023: BBC record peak of 3.5 million viewers for semi final 1

The viewing figures are in for the BBCs broadcast of semi final 1!

It has been confirmed that semi final 1 of Eurovision 2023 was watched by 2.3 million people in the United Kingdom, with a peak of 3.5 million.

These figures show a massive increase of 623% when compared to the Eurovision 2022 semi finals, which brought in an average of 545,000 viewers on BBC Four.

The first semi final was broadcast on BBC One for the first time in the United Kingdom’s Eurovision history. Previously, they have been shown on either BBC Three or BBC Four.

The first semi final of Eurovision 2023 took place on Tuesday 9th May at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool, which saw the first ten acts qualifying for the final.

Switzerland, Finland, Portugal, Sweden and Serbia all qualified and will perform in the first half of the grand final. Croatia, Moldova, Czechia, Israel and Norway also qualified and will perform in the second half of the grand final.

The second semi final of Eurovision 2023 will take place on Thursday 11th May, and for viewers in the United Kingdom, they will also be able to watch it on BBC One.
