International pop star Laura Pausini may be one of the hosts for Eurovision 2022 in Turin. Well-known Italian newspaper “La Stampa” reports it.

The singer is not unknown to the international fandom, having performed all around the world and recently conquering a Golden Globe with the song “Io si (Seen)”, the soundtrack of the movie “The Life Ahead”, starring worlwide star Sophia Loren.

If the rumour would be confirmed, Laura could be one of the most famous artists hosting the Eurovision Song Contest, being able to rely on massive support from Italy, Europe and Latin America.

Moreover, Laura has already had important hosting experiences: in 2016 she hosted prime time variety show “Laura e Paola” alongside Italian actress Paola Cortellesi, for which she won the prestigious “Premio Regia Televisiva” in the category “Person revelation of the year”. In 2018, Pausini conducted the “Lo Nuestro Awards” from Miami, Florida, a musical event dedicated to awarding the most relevant figures in the Latin American music industry. Furthermore, on many occasisons, Laura reiterated that she would have enjoyed to participate as one of the hosts in Sanremo, but she always denied the opportunity revealing that she “did not feel ready yet”.

Maybe the Eurovision stage could represent an even bigger leap forward for Laura, whose passion for it has been reiterated several times. In a interview with the spanish magazine “El Español” Laura was asked if she would have taken into consideration the idea of participating in Eurovision. Here you have her answer:

"When I won (Sanremo newcomers section in 1993) Eurovision was not known in Italy and it was a shame because I would have liked to participate at that time. A few years ago I was asked to host it, but I couldn't, since I was on a world tour".

Other rumoured hosts for Eurovision 2022

We already know that the Eurovision 2022 hosts are going to be announced not before the end of the next Sanremo edition, but the Italian press has been filled with rumours in the last months and we are ready to delve a little into them.

In pole position, Alessandro Cattelan stands firm; the former host of X Factor Italia is still considered one of the most suitable to play a role like that. The negotiations between Rai and Alessandro are no secret: in September, the Piedmontese conductor, fresh from the not exceptional result of “Da Grande”, the program that marked his debut in Rai, had already been indicated for the post by the director of Rai 1, Stefano Coletta. Then another signal arrived with an interview Alessandro gave to the Italian newspaper “La Repubblica”: to whether or not it was true that despite the not exciting results of “Da Grande”, Rai would have aired two more episodes, Cattelan answered:

“They told me about it. Today we took some time to decide. If it were, I would be happy. In the meantime we are talking about Eurovision”.

Another important hypothesis, which was not direclty denied by Coletta, regards the participation  of Milly Carlucci as host. The director showed himself to be open, taking into account the polylottismo of the well-known host of the Italian version of “Dancing with the stars”.

Chiara Ferragni is another big contender in the race. The influencer has been cited several times, by various media, in relation to Eurovision. However nothing has leaked, neither from his entourage, nor from Rai.

Finally, the possibility of involving Mika is quite low at the moment. The popstar has categorically denied his involvement in the contest (even if we do not belive him!).
