The French delegation held an emotional press conference, in which they shared a lot of information.

Barbara Pravi is a charming and very emotional young woman, as her fans know. She is also very excited by Eurovision 2021. She once again proved it during the press conference of the French delegation on April 19th.

The head of delegation, Alexandra Redde Amiel, made a presentation about the preparations of France and Barbara so far. She indicated in particular that the audience for the program “Eurovision – C’est vous qui décidez !” had reached 3 million viewers. A performance welcomed by the France 2 channel and the France Télévisions group, which suggests a continuation of the show next year. A documentary that will be broadcast on the French channel during the week of the competition has also been announced.

Then, Alexandra introduced the French candidate to the journalists and guests. Through a moving speech, the head of delegation described singer Barbara Pravi as “mysterious, magical and magnetic”. It didn’t take much to move Barbara before she spoke.

The young singer, of Serbian, Polish and Iranian origins, began notably by thanking the Serbian fans for their support in the competition. A nod to her Serbian grandfather. She then explained how she lived this adventure and what she loves so much.

"I would dedicate my victory to Blas Canto"

When asked about her relations with the other participants, she shared some anecdotes. She explains in particular that she is in daily contact with Blas Canto and Gjon’s Tears.  The Swiss candidate notably went to Paris where he gave a special performance of his song, even before it was made public.

Of the Spanish candidate, she is full of praise! He speaks very well French you should know that! He picked us at the airport when we arrived in Madrid and we shared a breakfast. He is really lovely!Asked later by reporters to whom she’ll dedicate her potential victory, she didn’t think twice and said: “Blas Canto” adding in a smile “I didn’t really think about it yet, but it just came to me.

Proud to represent France and its culture

Barbara Pravi also explained at length why it was important for her represent France, and why she absolutely wanted to sing in French. “The French language allows you to express so many things, and above all it is a beautiful language. I would like to share this with Europe. She explained that she refused to add any English lyrics, simply because she didn’t feel comfortable and wanted to stay true to herself.  An attitude that will save her trouble from the French authorities who are always inclined to argue over questions of national identity.

However, the singer does not forget anything about her origins. This competition is also an opportunity for her to discover them better. Thus, she spends a lot of time investigating her family past and tries to reconnect with her Serbian and Polish roots thanks to the competition. In particular, she has repeatedly mentioned the Serbian fans of the competition and hopes to meet as many of them as possible.

A preparation on the right track

Little information is available on her staging. There will be some changes from the French national final, but she will still be alone on stage. For the rest, the singer wants to keep the secret for a few more weeks.

The French delegation is also almost complete; however, it remains to be known whether Valentina (Junior Eurovision 2020 winner) will participate or not. It is tradition for the winner of Eurovision Junior to sing during the “senior” contest, however given the epidemic context, at this stage this has not been confirmed.
