Tonight on Estonian evening news program Ringvaade, Mr. Eesti Laul himself, head producer Tomi Rahula, shared some exciting news for the upcoming 2022 contest.

Rahula revealed that the veteran Estonian Eurovision selection has undergone major reconstruction, including the introduction of quarter finals. He said “We’re going to have four more shows that compete for 10 songs in each show,” whilst adding that it would give people the chance to hear entries that would’ve been otherwise overlooked.

In previous editions of Eesti Laul, only 24 competing songs and videos were released. However, in 2022, we will have a total of 40 competing songs. Instead of the current 24 semi finalists, 20 participants will advance to the semi finals and 10 to the final.

The schedule for Eesti Laul 2022 is set to be released tomorrow along with the opening for song submissions and the rules for potential participants.

While we wait for the exciting news to follow and undoubtedly more awesome developments to Eesti Laul 2022, let’s have a recap on our Eesti Laul 2021 winner, Uku Suviste with The Lucky One.
