Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2026 to take place on February 14th

Save the date! Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2026 is coming on February 14th.

The Danish broadcaster has confirmed that the 2026 edition of Dansk Melodi Grand Prix will be taking place on February 14th in the city of Frederikshavn in Northern Jutland. It has also been confirmed that the Junior MGP will be taking place just one week later, on February 21st.

Program manager for DMGP, Erik Struve Hansen, says: “The ambition of the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix is ​​to bring Danes together across the board through music, and in its 69th year, it is an event that arouses commitment and emotions in many people. I am pleased because it means that the show, in a time when we are seeing each other more and more often, continues to be relevant and is something that people from all parts of the country relate to. We look forward to bringing the Grand Prix party to Frederikshavn and, not least, to creating a show that Danes gather around in their living rooms.”

Whilst no specific details about the show have been revealed, it is likely that DMGP 2026 will be comprised of just one final show. Ticket information will be revealed in September 2026.

The broadcaster confirms that the city of Frederikshavnwill hold various events and activities during the two weeks of DMGP and Junior MGP, which will be revealed later this year. Mayor of Frederikshavn Municipality Karsten Thomsen says: “I can hardly contain my excitement. I am so proud. Hosting is a fantastic opportunity to showcase our lovely municipality to the rest of the country. It will undoubtedly attract many guests. It is of great importance to our hotels, shops and restaurants. It will certainly be a fantastic experience for both children and adults in the municipality – an experience that brings the entire city together in the spirit of community.”

Dansk Melodi Grand Prix has been used to select Denmark’s Eurovision entry since 1957. The most recent DMGP winner is Sissal, who won by one point over Tim Schou with her song “Hallucation”. At Eurovision 2025 in Basel, Switzerland, Sissal went on to qualify and bring Denmark back to the Eurovision final for the first time since 2019. She finished in 23rd place with 47 points.
