Lithuania is yet another confirmed absence from JESC 2021. Since 2011, that country has not competed in the event.

The website eurofestivales.blogspot.com writes that, according to the head of the Lithuanian delegation, Audrius Giržadas, the LRT broadcaster discards the JESC due to the costs considered too high for the audience reached.

Debuting in 2007, Lithuania remained in the JESC until 2011, missing only the 2009 edition for economic reasons. The best result was third place in 2008 with Egle Jurgaitytė and the theme Laiminga Diena.
