Swedish superstars ABBA, Benjamin Ingrosso and Cornelia Jakobs have all won big at Rockbjörnen 2022.

Rockbjörnen (The Rock Bear) is a Swedish music prize, divided into different categories, that is awarded annually by Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet. It has been ongoing since 1979. In this years edition, fellow Eurovision alumni won big.

  • Female Artist of The Year – Miss Li
  • Male artist of the year – Benjamin Ingrosso
  • Group of the year – ABBA
  • Breakthrough of the year – Cornelia Jakobs
  • Swedish song of the year – “Hold me closer” – Cornelia Jakobs
  • Foreign song of the year – “Bad habits” – Ed Sheeran
  • Fans of the year –  Benjamin Ingrosso fans

This year marks the fourth time that Benjamin Ingrosso has been crowned “Male Artist of The Year”, having picked up the award in 2018, 2019 and 2021: It feels so damn good to see the audience again and I can promise that next year I will come out and play and then you guys will get to see a concert, I love you, have the world’s most beautiful evening.”

This is the first time that Cornelia Jakobs has been nominated, and won awards at Rockbjörnen, and on her debut, she has managed to scoop not one, but two awards.

Eurovision 1974 winners ABBA, who recently released a new album and announced a virtual tour, were somewhat surprised, yet happy, at their “Group Of The Year” award, as Björn Ulvaeus says: “It’s big to get the Rockbjörnen and it’s of course even bigger to get the Rockbjörnen when someone like us stopped being active as a group 40 years ago, it’s a little bit like a miracle.”
