RTVE have appointed César Vallejo as Spain's new Head of Delegation for Eurovision.
The Spanish broadcaster has confirmed that César Vallejo has been appointed as the new Head of Delegation for Spain in Eurovision. Vallejo takes over from Ana María Bordas, (who held this role from 2017), as she assumes her new role as head chair of the Eurovision reference group.
César Vallejo has been working at RTVE for over 20 years, and at present, he is currently the Deputy Director of Programming at RTVE Play. Alongside this, Vallejo has also worked in the creation and direction of documentaries, music specials, live galas, and high-impact cultural programs. He has also been RTVE’s special correspondent for Eurovision in previous contests, covering the festival from different angles including: production, television narrative, scenography, and digital strategy.
Vallejo also currently works on Benidorm Fest, something that he will continue to do, as he explains: “We aspire to ensure that each edition of the Benidorm Fest and each participation in Eurovision brings us a little closer to that balance between artistic quality, international impact, and collective pride.”
Vallejo goes on to point out that the experience which RTVE has accumulated in more recent years should serve as a foundation for the broadcaster’s continued growth in Eurovision, and emphasizes on the importance of taking care of everyone, every step of the way: “We’ve learned a lot. It’s time to turn that experience into tangible achievements and impactful proposals… We will work with rigor, but also with respect and care for the artists, so that the road to Eurovision is an enriching experience with satisfactory results for everyone… The delegation must be a place of trust and creativity.”
Spain have already confirmed their Eurovision 2026 participation, and have confirmed that Benidorm Fest will be returning for a fifth year running. The submissions window for Benidorm Fest 2026 is already open, and will remain open until September 24th.
Melody won Benidorm Fest 2025 and went on to represent Spain at Eurovision 2025 in Switzerland with “Esa Diva”. She finished in 24th place with 37 points.
