Another night of excitement and good music at the Palau Municipal d’Esports l’Illa in Benidorm. After a great first semifinal, RTVE has once again offered us a show full of incredible performances, guests artists and a heart-stopping vote from which has ended with four new qualifiers for the grand final: Blanca Paloma, Vicco, Karmento and José Otero.

The second semifinal of the Benidorm Fest has left us speechless with its 9 performances: Famous and his way of playing with the lights on stage, José Otero’s sea of clouds, the trip with Karmento to the region of Castilla-La Mancha to learn about its folklore, Rakky Ripper’s electronic music rave, the emotion of the great vocals of Blanca Paloma singing flamenco, the emotion of the great vocals of Blanca Paloma singing flamenco, the rhythm of E’Femme, the joy of Siderland on stage, Alfred’s trip to the past and Vicco’s eighties rhythm.

A show that has also had the performance of great music stars: In national artists, music has come in the voice of Álvaro Soler, one of the most international Spanish artists, and Miguel Poveda, one of the great voices of current flamenco and who has made a tribute to the song “Eres tú” (Spain 1973) on its 50th anniversary. But the second semifinal has also been lucky to have on its stage Gloria Trevi, the superstar from Mexican and who is currently on tour in Europe.

Once again, the high level of this semi-final has given us an exciting moment during the voting. They have all been fair contenders for victory, but there were only four places for the grand final and, after combining the votes of the public and the jury, they have been for:

  1. Blanca Paloma – “Eaea”: 167 points.
  2. Vicco – “Nochentera”: 135 points.
  3. Karmento – “Quiero y duelo”: 112 points.
  4. José Otero – “Inviernos en Marte”: 105 points.
  5. Alfred García – “Desde que tú estás”: 102 points.
  6. Siderland – “Que esclati tot”: 88 points.
  7. Famous – “La Lola”: 87 points.
  8. E’Femme – “Uff”: 64 points.
  9. Rakky Ripper – “Tracción”: 52 points.

All the details about the voting.

The result has been the product of the combination of the vote of the jury and the public: A total of 912 points divided in number at 50% in number of points (456 each of the parts). However, the jury vote is more decisive:

The points of the jury have been announced as a total, however, they represent the union of the individual votes of each member. These votes have followed a pattern similar to that of Eurovision (but without “1 point”): 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10 and 12 points. The jury has been made up of 8 members, three nationals and five internationals, so each artist could receive from the jury a maximum of 96 points in total and a minimum of 16 points.

On the other hand, the audience’s 456 points has been divided into two parts: 228 points have been distributed by a poll jury —a statistical selection of 350 people representing the Spanish population— and the other 228 have been distributed based on the calls and SMS. These points have been distributed in blocks of 13, 15, 20, 22, 25, 28, 30, 35 and 40 points that have been assigned according to the ranking position of each artist in the classification. So, each artist could receive from the audience vote a maximum of 80 and a minimum of 16 points.

As can be verified, in this way, the position in the ranking of the jury is more decisive than the position in the ranking of the public vote. In addition, the bases stipulate that the vote of the jury prevails over that of the public in case of a tie.

The jury have voted as follows:

  1. Blanca Paloma – “Eaea”: 92 points.
  2. Vicco – “Nochentera”: 67 points.
  3. José Otero – “Inviernos en Marte”: 63 points.
  4. Alfred García – “Desde que tú estás”: 52 points.
  5. Siderland – “Que esclati tot”: 48 points.
  6. Karmento – “Quiero y duelo”: 47 points.
  7. Famous – “La Lola”: 46 points.
  8. Rakky Ripper – “Tracción”: 24 points.
  9. E’Femme – “Uff”: 17 points.

For the poll jury, the ranking has been as follows:

  1. Vicco – “Nochentera”: 40 points.
  2. Blanca Paloma – “Eaea”: 35 points.
  3. Karmento – “Quiero y duelo”: 30 points.
  4. Famous – “La Lola”: 28 points.
  5. E’Femme – “Uff”: 25 points.
  6. José Otero – “Inviernos en Marte”: 22 points.
  7. Alfred García – “Desde que tú estás”: 20 points.
  8. Siderland – “Que esclati tot”: 15 points.
  9. Rakky Ripper – “Tracción”: 13 points.

The ranking of the televote has been:

  1. Blanca Paloma – “Eaea”: 40 points.
  2. Karmento – “Quiero y duelo”: 35 points.
  3. Alfred García – “Desde que tú estás”: 30 points.
