Belorussian broadcaster BTRC have announced that they have begun the search for their Eurovision 2021 representative. Their songs submissions window has been opened, and it will remain open until January 31st.
All singers aged 16 and over, from either Belarus or abroad, are eligible to enter the national selection. They must submit a live, three minute recording of the song that they would like to perform at Eurovision, should they win. All participants are only allowed to submit one song, and the songs can be in any language. The full list of rules, as well as how to apply, can be found on the official TVR website.
At the moment, it is unknown what form the selection process will take. After the songs submissions closes on January 31st, the broadcaster will organise something for either February or March, depending on the situation with the COVID-19 pandemic in Belarus.
In 2020, Belorussian duo VAL were chosen to represent Belarus at that years contest in Rotterdam with “Da Vidna“, but unfortunatley, were unable to do so due to the cancellation of Eurovision. Since making their debut in 2004, Belarus have made it to the final six times, most recently in 2019 with Zena. Their best result to date is 6th place, which they achieved in 2007 with Koldun and his song “Work Your Magic“.
