Speaking with UK commentator Graham Norton on Virgin Radio UK, James Newman has revealed that the BBC asked him to return to Eurovision 2021 in the summer of 2020. However, James wasn’t officially announced as the United Kingdom’s 2021 representative until February of this year.

For Eurovision 2020, the BBC teamed up with BMG to help chose the United Kingdom’s entry for Eurovision 2020. James Newman was chosen to sing his song “My Last Breath”, in Rotterdam 2020, but was unable to do so due to the cancellation of the contest. James Newman will return to Eurovision 2021 with his song “Embers”.
