BBC announce two special entertainment shows to celebrate Eurovision

The BBC have announced two special, one-off entertainment shows to celebrate the Eurovision Song Contest.

The BBC have announced that two special, one-off entertainment shows, And The Winner Isn’t and The Greatest Show on Earth, will be broadcast on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in May.

Rachel Ashdown, the BBC’s Lead Commissioner for Eurovision 2023, is looking forward to getting things started with these two programmes:

“As the excitement builds for this year’s Contest, we are looking forward to getting things started with these special programmes. They will remind fans of all their favourite moments and be the ultimate guide for people who want to find out more about what the Eurovision Song Contest is all about. These new shows are just a taster of much more to come.”

And The Winner Isn't

This programme, packed with Eurovision trivia, has been produced by Merseyside based company, Shearwater Media. It will chart the success of Eurovision participants who didn’t win Eurovision, but went on to have long and successful careers in the music industry.

The Greatest Show On Earth

Produced by Little Gem, this programme will celebrate 25 years since the United Kingdom last hosted Eurovision, with 25 reasons why Eurovision is The Greatest Show On Earth.

Through archive footage and interviews, this documentary will explore how Eurovision went on to become the world’s biggest live music event. It will also include a sneak peak backstage at this years contest in Liverpool, and will explore the extrodinary legacy of reigning champions, Kalush Orchestra of Ukraine.

Along side the news of these two special programmes, the BBC have also announced the production company that will be in charge of producing the postcards that will be seen before every country in the semi finals and the grand final.

It been confirmed that the company Windfall Films will make the Eurovision 2023 postcards. They will work together with one of the best production service companies in Ukraine, 23/32.

The postcards for Eurovision 2023 are set to embody this years slogan, United By Music, and will use innovative techniques to showcase each Eurovision 2023 entry, whilst linking the United Kingdom and Ukraine in the process.
