The Scottish broadcaster BBC Alba has confirmed that Scotland will not be making their Junior Eurovision debut at this years contest in France. Speaking to ESC Bubble, the broadcaster confirmed that they would not be participating at this years contest.
This is not the first time however that Scotland has ruled out a Junior Eurovision debut. On June 29th, 2019, BBC Alba confirmed that they would not be participating in Junior Eurovision as they would be in the Eurovision Choir instead. There were also talks of a Scottish debut in the 2020 contest, but nothing came of it.
The 19th edition of Junior Eurovision will be taking place in France in November 2021, following on from Valentina’s victory at the 2020 contest. So far, Georgia, Germany, The Netherlands and Russia have all confirmed their participation in the 2021 contest, as well as host country France and returning country Ireland, who sat out the 2020 contest due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
