Schöneberger chosen to host the German national final for the eighth time

Eurovision fans across the globe will be thrilled to discover that the familiar face and German TV personality, Barbara Schöneberger has once again been selected to host the German national final ‘Das Deutsche Finale 2024’. 

Schöneberger is best known in Germany as a longstanding television presenter, entertainer, actress and singer. She is also recognised in the wider Eurovision community for the being the official spokesperson for Germany’s jury points at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin, Italy.

This will be the eighth time Barbara Schöneberger has hosted the German national selection for Eurovision, having previously hosted in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2022 and 2023. In fact, Schöneberger even won the German Television Prize 2023 earlier this year for the incredible way she hosted Germany’s 2023 version of their Eurovision national selection named ‘Unser Lied Fur Liverpool’. 

The German national final this year, ‘Das Deutsche Finale 2024’ will be broadcast on Das Erste,, and ARD Mediathek live from Berlin on February 16th 2024 at 10pm. The winner of the national selection will be flying the flag for Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmö, Sweden.

At this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool, Germany sadly finished in last place with 18 points overall,  represented by Lord of the Lost with the song “Blood and Glitter”. Eurovision fans alike will be hoping for a promising line-up for Das Deutsche Finale 2024 that can hopefully bring Germany back up to the top of the Eurovision leaderboard in Malmö next May.
