Australia’s organising broadcaster for Junior Eurovision, ABC, have officially ruled out participation in the 2021 contest, which will be held in Paris in December.

Due to the current lockdown conditions in Australia, international travel has been restricted with borders closed to both interstate, and international travellers.

Although Australia was successful in producing an amazing live on tape performance for Eurovision 2021, it seems that this will not be practical given that the live broadcast will be shown during the early hours of the morning in Australia, combined with the young ages of the participants.

ABC has been in charge of Australia’s Junior Eurovision entries since 2017, after taking over from SBS. In a statement to www.aussievision.com.au, a spokesperson from SBS said that they also had no plans to enter Australia into this years contest.

Whilst this news in disappointing, we can only hope to see Australia return to Junior Eurovision in the near future!
