The Artistic Director and Vocal Coach for Spain's Junior Eurovision 2023 entry have been revealed.

The Spanish broadcaster has revealed the artistic director who will be in charge of the country’s staging for Junior Eurovision 2023, and the vocal coach who will accompany Sandra Valero to Nice this November.

Javier Pageo has been confirmed as artistic director for Spain’s staging and live performance at the upcoming Junior Eurovision Song Contest on November 26th in Nice. He has a long history in developing sets for television in various programs and networks.

Alongside this, Pageo has previously worked with Spanish broadcaster RTVE on Benidorm Fest, where he worked with Karmento earlier this year and Rayden in 2022. The artistic director, who also has a degree in Architecture and a diploma in Building Engineering, has also worked with other famous Spanish singers including: Tanxugueiras, Melendi, Ana Mena and Ruth Lorenzo, among others.

Verónica Ferreira, a singer, songwriter, vocal coach and former dancer, will be Sandra Valero’s vocal coach in Nice this November. She has previously worked as a backing singer and dancer for acts such as: Ana Torroja, David Bisbal, Soraya, Melendi and Sergio Dalma, among others. She has also worked as a vocal coach on La Voz and La Voz Kids. Alongside this, she was a jury member for Spain in Eurovision 2013.

Back in July, Sandra Valero was internally selected by the Spanish broadcaster to represent Spain at Junior Eurovision 2023. In September, she released her Junior Eurovision entry “Loviu”. In Nice, she will be joined by four backing dancers – Juan Diego Álvarez, Marcos Pelado, Evelyn Casteñada and Elia Cobo.

Spain are one of the most successful countries in Junior Eurovision, having finished in the top five on six out of eight participations. They won the contest once in 2004 with María Isabel, and almost won in 2003 with Sergio and in 2005 with Antonio José, who finished only 9 points and 3 points behind the winner respectively.

Junior Eurovision 2023 takes place at Palais Nikaïa in Nice, France on November 26th. This is the second time that France hosts Junior Eurovision, the first time being in Paris in 2021. Lissandro brought France their second Junior Eurovision win last year with “Oh Mamman”.
