Achille Lauro has been named one of the first celebrity torchbearers of the 2026 Winter Olympic torch relay.
Achille Lauro was announced along with 5 other torchbearers by the Milan-Cortina 2026 Organizing Committee. The Italian native represented San Marino at the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest in Turin, Italy. He was chosen to carry the Olympic flame thanks to his contributions to the Italian music scene. The final torchbearer will be revealed on the night of the opening ceremony.
The Olympic torch will be ignited in Olympia, Greece on 26 November 2025 in a traditional ceremony. The torch will make its way through Greece before arriving in Rome, Italy. The flame will travel 12,000 kilometers by way of 10,000 other torchbearers and pass through key Italian cities until it reaches its final destination at the San Siro Stadium in Milan on 6 February. Achille Lauro is due to perform at the same stadium in June 2026 during his Comuni Immortali tour after a successful 2025.
Achille Lauro represented San Marino at Eurovision 2022 in Turin with the song “Stripper”. He finished in 14th place with 50 points in semi final 2.
