Greek broadcaster receives more than 50 songs; including submissions from 'well-known' musicians

Towards the end of October, the Greek national broadcaster ERT revealed that Marina Satti will sing for Greece at next year’s Eurovision Song Contest taking place in Malmö, Sweden on the 7th, 9th and 11th May 2024. The announcement was made on the Greek daytime TV show “Studio 4” with Nancy Zampetoglou and Thanasis Anagnostopoulos.

This news came as somewhat of an unexpected welcome surprise to Eurovision fans everywhere, due to Marina’s high profile & popularity in her country and internationally too. Marina Satti was born in the capital city of Athens, and was raised in Heraklion on the Greek island of Crete.

Marina’s music style combines Greek, Arab, and Balkan elements with urban-pop influences, which evidently impressed ERT’s internal selection panel in the build up to Eurovision 2024. Marina Satti is best known for her biggest song release back in 2017 titled “Mantissa”, which translates in English to “Fortune Teller”. The music video on Youtube has a staggering 55 million views so far.

Shortly after Marina Satti was announced as Greece’s entry for next year’s contest, the artist posted on her Instagram story asking her followers to send her songs that could be considered for Eurovision. Nearly three weeks have now passed and an impressive 50 songs have been submitted to ERT so far, with the song submission window set to close on December 1st. The Greek broadcaster are now working closely alongside Satti, beginning the preparations for Greece’s performance in Malmö next May.

Greek broadcaster ERT has also announced that there is no televised national final planned in due course to select or reveal the song that Marina will sing in Malmö. According to the Greek media outlet ‘Typologies’, ERT has reportedly made the decision not to stage a national final partly due to Marina Satti’s long-term popularity & success in Greece, but more so because of ERT’s current economic situation which has ultimately led them to making this call.

With just under six months to go until the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 Grand Final in Malmö , more details are to be revealed in the coming months by ERT as to which song Marina Satti will sing at next year’s contest.
