Switzerland’s Eurovision 2021 participant Gjon’s Tears has revealed in an interview with TopRadio Albania that 20 songs were written for his entry at next year’s contest in Rotterdam. In the later part of this year, Gjon’s Tears has already announced on social media that his 2021 song has been chosen, but we are still yet to find out the title or hear the song itself.
Due to the EBU’s ruling that Eurovision 2020 songs couldn’t be carried over to the 2021 contest, Gjon’s Tears explained that 20 songs were performed over a month and a half period, and a jury was used to make the final decision on the song. Within the interview, he didn’t give any information on when we will hear the song but if we are basing it on previous Swiss entry reveals, they are usually released between February and March.
Gjon’s Tears was internally selected to represent Switzerland at the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest with Répondez-moi. Due to the consequent cancellation of the contest in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Swiss broadcaster SRF soon announced that Gjon’s Tears will stay as their representative for the 2021 contest, due to be held in Rotterdam next May.
