Bulgaria’s Eurovision 2020 and 2021 entrant, Victoria, is preparing to release her latest single, “Ugly Cry”. The song, along with an official music video will be premiered on Victoria’s official YouTube channel on November 20th; However, the song is already available to pre-save on all major digital music platforms.
Ugly Cry is expected to show a different side to Victoria and her artistry. The song is more heavier compared to her other songs, with a hard hitting beat accompanied by tense strings. Throughout the song, Victoria examines the difference between her public persona and her private persona, inviting the listeners to love her “better side”. The song has been inspired by the difference in the way she was treated before and after her Eurovision success.
The song was written by Victoria herself along with the production duo Billen Ted during a Eurovision songwriting session in London earlier this year. It has been produced by Swedish-Bulgarian Martin Masarov. The message of Ugly Cry is a simple message, as Victoria says: “everyone deserves respect”.
Ugly Cry will be Victoria’s third release, after her Eurovision song “Tears Getting Sober” and her follow up single in the summer, “Alright”. Since the cancellation of Eurovision 2020, Victoria has been keeping busy, but not just with new music.
At the beginning of November, she met the Deputy Prime Minister of Bulgaria and Minister of Bulgarian Tourism, Mariyana Nikolova, with the Ministry of Tourism pledging to support Eurovision Bulgaria and Victoria as one of the most suitable artists to represent the country abroad. Victoria is also expected to renew her partnership with iCard for Eurovision 2021.
