Last month, the Cypriot broadcaster revealed that their Eurovision 2020 participant Sandro would not be returning to Eurovision 2021 for Cyprus. In light of this, Cyprus have opted to go for a new internal selection for Eurovision 2021.
In a more recent interview with Hello magazine, Vangelis has said: “There has been a lot of discussion with my colleagues about Eurovision. I feel and am ready for such a move! Cyprus has always supported me in every step, it will be my great joy and honor if I am given the opportunity to support it too!”
Vangelis is a 23 year old singer originally from Greece who started his career as a member of a boy band before going solo. He is currently signed to Panik Records, which is the same record label as fellow Eurovision alumni Eleni Foureira (2018), Demy (2017) and Ivi Adamou (2012). He has released three albums and a string of hit pop songs. He has also won numerous awards, including the MAD Video Music Award for best newcomer.
Check out Vangelis’ most recent song, “Φοίβος – Παιδί Από Σπίτι”, which was released last month.
