Ulrikke Brandstorp has released her debut album Spend Christmas With Me. It includes 10 songs in 3 different languages (Norwegian, English and Danish). It manages to combine both old and new Christmas music influences into one studio album. Ulrikke wants to raise a Christmas spirit especially in current times, stating on Facebook that “the whole dream with the album has been that while you listen you should feel like you are at one of my Christmas concerts, that the Christmas spirit is flowing and that the body is filled with heat.”. One of the tracks includes a duet with Trygve Skaug.
Ulrikke Brandstorp won the Norwegian national selection Melodi Grand Prix 2020 with the ballad Attention. Therefore, she was supposed to represent the Nordic country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam. For well-known reasons, this did not happen. Despite many other countries, Norway have decided to stick to their national selection process and didn’t nominate Ulrikke internally. Since she won’t participate in next years MGP, she won’t represent Norway at Eurovision in 2021.
What do you think about Ulrikke’s debut album? Would you like to see her back in MGP? Let us know down in the comments.
