Ukraine to hold televised national selection for Junior Eurovision 2021

Ukrainian public television channel, UA:KULTURA have revealed that they will be organising a televised national selection to chose their participant for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2021. This will mark the first time since 2017 that Ukraine will have a televised show to chose their act for Junior Eurovision.

More details about the show, including when it wil be broadcast, how long it will be and how many participants will be taking part, are expected to be revealed in the coming weeks, along with the rules and regulations.

Speaking on behalf of UA:KULTURA organising Ukraine’s participation in Junior Eurovision 2021, the executive producer of the television channel, Lukyan Galkin, has said:

Children’s broadcasting is one of the priorities of UA: KULTURA TV channel. We have a one-and-a-half-hour line of children’s content that has been a success with viewers for over a year, and with full funding we expect to start our own production in the future. ambitious plans, as well as an important part of the mission of the Public, because thanks to the National Selection we provide equal opportunities for all children of Ukraine to discover their talent, and in the future we hope to open new stars…”

Junior Eurovision 2021: the story so far

The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2021 will take place at La Seine Musicale in Paris on December 19th. So far, a total of 13 countries have confirmed their participation. Ireland, North Macedonia and Portugal are all returning after taking a break in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Belgium, Estonia, Israel, Italy, Lithuania, Slovakia, Wales and The United Kingdom have all said no to participation in 2021, whilst Albania, Australia and Kazakhstan have yet to make a final decision.
