UA:PBC has confirmed participation

The Ukrainian public broadcaster UA:PBC has confirmed their participation in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2021. This year’s contest will be held in Paris after Valentina’s victory with the song J’imagine

Currently, we have 10 confirmed countries for the contest:

  • France (host)
  • Georgia
  • Germany
  • Ireland
  • Netherlands
  • Poland
  • Portugal
  • Russia
  • Spain
  • Ukraine

In comparison to last year, Serbia, Malta, Belarus and Kazakhstan haven’t confirmed their participation yet.

In 2020, Ukraine finished 7th in Warsaw with the Ukrainian and English song Vidkryvai (Open Up) performed by Oleksandr Balabanov. With a total of 106 points, he has been the best placed artist as a male lead singer for this year.

Ukraine has debuted in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2006 and therefore three years after the debut in the adult version. At this point, Ukraine has chalked up one victory so far in 2012. In Amsterdam, Anastasiya Petryk won the competition with the song Nebo and a total of 138 points. Since it isn’t necessarily a requirement to win the contest in order to host it, Ukraine has been the host twice so far (2009 & 2013).

Who would you like to see as a representative for Ukraine at Junior Eurovision? Do you think they will be a contender for the victory? Let us know down in the comments.
