An announcement was made for the Fête de la Musique, an important day of the music festivities in France.

The head of the French delegation in Rotterdam, Alexandra Redde-Amiel celebrated the success of their national final in 2021 and confirmed that Eurovision France: C’est vous qui décidez! would return in 2022.

It is now official as France 2 announced the opening of the submissions for the national final. Applications can be submitted from Monday June 21, 2021 until Sunday October 24, 2021 at the latest. The rules contain several provisions. Thus, the song, the composition, the text must be mainly in French language and/or any regional language, including languages of the overseas regions“, and any applicant must be at least 16 years old.

On twitter, the Canadian artist Coeur de Pirate retweeted the announcement with a comment saying “Yes thanks, I’m on my way” which many interpreted as a possible bid to represent France.

The first phase of the casting will be a physical audition for the candidates. They’ll perform live in a Parisian theatre in front of the French delegation. No change has been announced in the organization of the French final which should be the same as last year.

In this year’s contest in Rotterdam, France finished 2nd just behind Italy, its best result in 30 years! Stakes are high for the French broadcaster who’s aiming to win the contest again, eventually.
