
Speaking to ESCToday, the Slovakian broadcaster RTVS has confirmed that they will not be making a comeback to the Eurovision Song Contest 2021, which is set to be held in Rotterdam on the 18th 20th and 22nd of May 2021.
However, RTVS have announced they have not ruled out a possible return in future contest.
Slovakia intended to debut in the 1993 Eurovision Song Contest, however, they failed to qualify to the final. in between 1994 and 2012 Slovakia participated 7 times. Their best result was in 1996 when Marcel Palonder sang Kým Nás Máš and finished 18th. since Slovakia’s comeback in 2009, they participated every year until 2012, but they never managed to make the final. Slovakia withdrew from the contest after their last place in the semi-final in 2012. Financial issues and a lack of interest were given as the reason behind the withdrawal.
