The line-up for the Selecţia Naţională 2022 semi final has gained an extra act and a brand new song. The folk-metal band E-an-na have won a place in the semi final after appealing their exclusion, whilst Alex Parker & Bastien will song a new song as a duo.
Out of 94 acts who applied for Selecţia Naţională, 45 of them were selected by a jury panel to compete in the semi final. The remaining acts who did not make it the semi final had 24 hours to appeal the jury’s decision. A total of four acts made an appeal to The special Appeals Analysis Commission: E-an-na, Ioana Popescu, Renate Grad and SAVE.
These four appeals were reviewed by Cristian Faur, Liana Elekeș and Gabriel Scîrleț, who all agreed that E-an-na should be awarded a place in the semi final, thus taking the total number of acts competing in the semi final to 46.
The trio Alex Parker & Erik Frank & Bastien had originally been granted a place in the semi final with their song “Best Of Me”. However, because Erik Frank is unable to travel to Romania, Alex Parker & Bastien will continue on as a duo. They will sing “All This Love”, a song which they previously submitted to the selection process, but ended up leaving behind in favour of “Best In Me”.
The rest of the semi final line-up remains unchanged, so the 46 acts will go on to compete in the two part semi final. Between February 5th and 10th, a jury plus the public will be able to vote for their favourites online. The jury will select 15 songs to advance to the second stage of the semi final whilst the public will select five songs.
The second stage of the semi final will be a live televised show where the 20 selected acts will perform their songs live for the first time. A jury panel will select 10 acts to advance to the final. They will announce their points after each performance.
The final of Selecţia Naţională will be held on March 5th. The winner, and Romania’s Eurovision 2022 representative, will be decided by a mix of jury vote and public vote.
