Sanremo 2021: winner gets first refusal for Eurovision

Italian broadcaster RAI have released the rules for Sanremo 2021, and have confirmed that the winner of of the Campioni category will have first refusal for Eurovision 2021.

These rules mean that if Diodato wants to represent his country again, in Eurovision 2021, he would need to compete in Sanremo again.

Despite the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Italian broadcaster confirmed that Sanremo would be taking place at the Ariston Theatre next March, and that there would be an audience, with all persons in attendance being swabbed and having their temperatures taken prior to entry.
