EMA set to return in 2025 to find Slovenia's Eurovision representative.

The Slovenian broadcaster has confirmed that their Eurovision national final, EMA, will be returning in 2025 for the first time since 2022. The broadcaster decided on internal selections for Eurovision in 2023 and 2024.

EMA 2025 will be comprised of multiple rounds, similar to what we have seen in previous editions. Once the submissions window has closed, a selection committee of at least three members will select 12 submissions to compete in EMA 2025. The list of selected songs and artists is expected to be published no later than December 20th, 2024.

The winner takes it all

EMA 2025 will be comprised of one live show on February 1st, 2025. The winning song, and Slovenia’s Eurovision 2025 representative, will be chosen through two rounds of voting. In the first round, five juries will vote and will award points in Eurovision style (1-8, 10 & 12 points.) Each jury panel will consist of five members, and they will be thematic.

There will be five different types of jury – The jury of music performers, creators and producers, the television jury, the radio jury, the jury of fans of the Eurovision Song Contest, and a jury of international online influencers in the field of Eurovision Song Contest.

The music jury will be made up of singers, performers, composers, songwriters and music producers. The television jury will be made up of editors, presenters, directors, choreographers and designers. The radio jury will include radio editors and editors, journalists and presenters. the jury of fans of the Eurovision Song Contest will include members of OGAE Slovenia, whilst the jury of international online influencers in the field of Eurovision Song Contest will include bloggers, vloggers, online journalists and online commentators etc. from abroad.

The two acts with the highest scores from all five jury panels in the first round of voting will advance to the superfinal. The two songs will be performed again with 100% televoting deciding the winner, and who will become Slovenia’s Eurovision 2025 representative.

Submissions are open until midnight on November 25th 2024. You can apply here. All applicants must upload a recording of the final version of the song in mp3 format. Alongside the song, they must also upload the lyrics of the song, a photo of the artist and a description of the artist’s creative and musical activities, with a fully completed and signed statement.

Slovenia’s most recent representative is Raiven, who, after being internally selected by the broadcaster, brought “Veronika” to Eurovision 2024 in Malmö. She qualified to the final where she finished in 23rd place with 27 points.

The last winners of EMA were the group LPS in 2022, who won with their song “Disko”, which they took all the way to Turin. They finished in 17th place with 15 points in semi final one.
